OF&G Appoint Acoura as their Organic Inspection Service Provider
9 April, 2015
In a move expected to greatly benefit the organic sector, Acoura, the UK’s fastest growing provider of certification for the farming and food processing sectors, are now working with Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G) to provide their inspection services across the UK.
Operating across the country, Acoura provides audits and inspections for a wide range of schemes and standards including Red Tractor and BRC. Since 2002, they have also worked with the Scottish Organic Producers Association (SOPA) and possess extensive experience of working with a variety of organic farming and food processing businesses.
The move has been hailed as an opportunity to improve the inspection experience for OF&G customers, with Acoura able to cover a number of relevant assessments in just one visit, saving businesses time, hassle and money.
Tim Bailey, Acoura’s Managing Director for the Agriculture and Food Manufacturing Sectors, said:
“We’re delighted to be working with OF&G. It’s been obvious from the start of our association that we both share the same desire to provide customers with as high a level of service as possible. Like many of the other organisations we work with, OF&G are also extremely forward thinking, so it’s our hope that through working together OF&G’s customers will see some real benefit from this partnership.”
Formed in 1973 as a marketing co-operative for members’ organic produce, OF&G went on to become the first body to be approved by the government to carry out inspection and certification for the organic sector. Since then the number of licensees has grown to around 1,500 across the farming and food processing sectors.
Roger Kerr, Chief Executive of OF&G said:
“With over forty years’ experience in the sector, OF&G understands the importance of delivering thorough and reliable inspections. Acoura has a very credible record in this field, working with food and drink businesses across the supply chain. We believe they will provide the best service to our licensees, with the potential added benefit of delivering significant time savings. By working in partnership with Acoura, we can assure the same high standards of inspection and certification – overall our licensees’ experience should also improve.”
Work between the two companies commences from today. Further information on OF&G can be found on their websitehttp://www.organicfarmers.org.uk/.
