Leading seafood expert joins Acoura as Strategic Adviser

In another senior appointment, leading seafood expert and former Director of Young’s Seafood Limited Mike Mitchell has joined Acoura, the global leaders in aquaculture and fisheries risk and compliance services, as a Strategic Adviser to the board.

Mike will use his decades of experience in promoting good stewardship of the seas, food integrity and social accountability in the commercial fishing and processing industry to further enhance Acoura’s worldwide market-leading credentials in the sector.

David Gregory, Chairman of Acoura said: “Mike brings a wealth of experience to the business and we’re delighted to welcome someone of his reputation and track record to the team. In addition to holding a Board role at the UK’s largest seafood processor, he’s been integral to a number of retailer Own Label and branded seafood sustainability initiatives and is the architect of some award-winning programmes.

“We’ve strengthened our team considerably over the last 12 months and Mike joins other advisers such as food safety expert Lisa Ackerley and Ton Christiaanse, an international authority on FMCG. Mike has worked in the fish industry since 1981 mainly focusing on Quality and Technical management and began specialising in Corporate Social Responsibility in 2005. He has held a wide range of operational roles in the UK, Europe and Scandanavia, is involved in a raft of industry steering groups and his theories were cited in the recent government review on the integrity of UK supply chains (The Elliott Review) as an exemplar of food industry practice.
