The Biofertiliser Certification Scheme (BCS)
Membership details for the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme
The Biofertiliser Certification Scheme provides assurance to consumers, farmers, food producers and retailers that Biofertiliser, a product of the anaerobic digestion process, is safe and of good quality.
Without BCS certification digestate produced is unable to be classed as a product and therefore can only be utilised in accordance with waste regulations.
Having Acoura carry out your BCS inspection has a number of tangible benefits.
Benefits can include:
- Assures consumers that your digestate is safe and of a good quality
- Allows fertiliser to be classed as a product
- Gives certified members license to use BCS symbol on their products
- Practical year-round technical support from SFQC staff
Currently Acoura is one of only two independent bodies selected by Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd to carry out inspection for this scheme.
Acoura has worked closely with the Renewable Energy Association and WRAP in developing the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme, ensuring it is both practical and effective.
Assessment for this scheme covers a number of different areas including the quality management system, document control, input materials as well as storage and product validation.
