Scottish Quality Wild Venison (SQWV)
Membership details for the Scottish Quality Wild Venison Scheme
The Scottish Quality Wild Venison scheme aims to improve food safety and meet the requirements of the Food Safety Act as well as address animal welfare and environmental responsibilities. Further to this, the scheme is dedicated to responding pro-actively to consumer desires to know about the way wild venison is produced.
Assurance to SQWV standards requires an assessment which covers a number of different areas and covers both producers and processors.
Being assured for SQWV brings with it a number of different benefits.
Benefits can include:
- Provides customers with quality assurances
- Helps give you greater market access to a rapidly growing sector of consumer interest
- Year-round technical guidance from the Acoura Certification team
The SQWV assurance scheme was initially formed over an 18 month period by groups such as Forest Enterprise, The Association of Deer Management Groups, The Scottish Association of Game Dealers and Processors and The Scottish Gamekeepers Association.
This represents the first occasion in which the public and private sectors of the Scottish wild venison sector have worked together on an initiative which encompasses the entire industry.
