Aquaculture Stewardship Council's Farms Standard (ASC Farms)
Membership details for the Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s Farms Standard
The ASC farms standard promotes sustainable and responsible aquaculture for a variety of species and is rapidly becoming a necessary standard for those supplying fish to the larger retailers.
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s standards for aquaculture are designed to promote continuous improvement of commercial fish farms by minimising their environmental and social impact.
Benefits of certification can include:
- Positions your company as a leading player in an increasingly competitive market
- Opens your product up to a range of retail customers
- Introduces environmental disciplines that may assist with legal compliance, both now and in the future
Working alongside a variety of stakeholders, the standards have been designed to promote the best possible industry practice while recognising the need to add value to the businesses operating in the sector.
Those who pass their audit are able to use the increasingly sought after ASC consumer label. Use of this label lasts for a full year following the certificate being awarded.
With our extensive aquaculture industry experience Acoura are able to offer customers assessments for a number of farmed species - including salmon, trout, mussels and sea bass.
Contact Acoura Marine for more details about joining the scheme.
